Ae Dil Hai Mushkil

It finally came time for me to watch my 100th movie and I really wanted it to be special. I first heard about Ae Dil Hai Mushkil in a Jaipur trailer for it I think, and I’ve been stuck here waiting for American friendly release since then. Ae Dil was worth the wait. Ranbir Kapoor and Anuska Sharma win my heart in every movie.. and together, it was twice that. It was nice to have some magic to enjoy again. It’s really nice to describe a movie not as blowing me way with random extravagant scenes (the Bollywood normal) but just quietly winning me over with every little scene. Ranbir and Anuska’s acting was perfection. Aishwarya Rai’s sheer elegance was outstanding. The way the script manages to flow through all the characters available emotion and how everybody was so dynamic! The way Ranbir and Aishwarya talk around their passions! The way my face lit up so big when Shah Rakh Khan just slid into the screen! The letter between Ranbir and Anushka! Man. I’m sorry. I really loved this movie.

I think a lot of reviews for Ae Dil Hai Muskil were too hard on the story… There was so much to experience outside of that, with the way every scene seemed to capture your attention, that maybe the sort-of predictable story isn’t a negative.

I finally found my Hindi OK Kanmani (lol like OK Jaanu was waiting for it). It feels like the best way to call this Bollywood project a success. I’m now a huge fan of the genre so the review site isn’t complete, but it accomplished the dream I originally had for it.
